A Birthday Note
Recently, my father celebrated his 96th birthday. He had a wonderful day with family and friends stopping by and/or calling to wish him well — a veritable chorus of voices singing his praises.
When asked how it felt to be of such an advanced age, Dad responded with words that were pure music to my ears: “Well, speaking now from my new vantage point of 96 years of age, I can truthfully say life is still rewarding and replete with things of interest. Of course, I greatly miss my beloved wife, my parents, and my sister and brother, but I’m blessed to be surrounded by my wonderful children, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, as well as special friends. Also blessed still to be able to play the piano!”
Happy Birthday, dear Dad! May you long continue to grace us with your rousing repertoire of musical notes and your harmonious song of life!
